What is kept, and for how long.

Your answers and files

What you type is turned into files on the server and sent back to you; it is not stored unless you press "Save to my Book". Robots.txt tests are never stored. A saved site set is kept in a Book opened by a private link. We store only a hashed form of that link's key: we can match the link when you open it, but we cannot rebuild the link from what is stored.

No account, no tracking

No account, no email address, no analytics services, no tracking cookies, no fonts from other sites. The only outside service the pages load is the AdEngine banner on the public pages, described under Advertising; it also counts one page view per page as a daily total. The site never fetches the addresses you type. Two cookies are used: one holds the open Book's key in this browser, one protects forms from forgery.

Advertising

The public pages (home, the guide, pricing, and the maker and tester before you send anything) show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site. For now the ads are for WeldonPC's own services. Made files, test results, a saved site set, the Book, this page and the terms never show an ad.

To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your internet address, your browser type and the address of this site with those requests. Nothing you type into the maker or the tester is sent with them.

Addresses and logs

Daily limits keep a hashed form of your internet address, mixed with a secret value kept on the server, for at most 5 days; we never store the address itself. The hosting server keeps its own access logs for a short time for security; form contents are sent by POST and are not in those logs.

Backups

Database backups on the server are kept for 14 days. Deleting a site set or a Book removes it at once; copies in those backups are gone within 14 days. When the site's software is updated, an extra copy of the database is also kept off the server; each one is deleted at the first update after it is 14 days old.

Payments

Once checkout opens, payments go through PayPal. We would keep only PayPal's subscription reference and its status, never card details.
